Heavenly Father, I praise You that my trust is in You alone and that You are with me always, even when I face disappointments, pain, or attacks from the enemy. I praise You for being the bearer of my anxieties and burdens. I praise You for being the God who knows, cares, and walks with me daily. You are with me even though I walk in this world full of sin, darkness, hate, evil, and death. You stand by me and reassure my spirit that this is only my temporary home. Help me today to take command of my day and shake all the evil from it.
Holy Spirit I come before You and through You to the throne room at the feet of Jesus and I pray as David sang: “The Lord is my rock and my fortess and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my fortress and my sanctuary; my Savior, You save me from violence. I call upon the praiseworthy Lord, and I am saved from my enemies. When the waves of death encompassed me, the currents of destruction made me afraid. The ropes of Sheol were wrapped around me; the snares of death were opposite me. In my distress, I called on the Lord and cried out to my God; from His temple, He heard my voice. My cry reached His ears.” [2 Samuel 22:2-7] I kneel now in Your presence within my heart and ask that You be my mighty fortress and protect my family. Lead us in wisdom and guide us with salvation, mercy, and grace. Help me to know with wisdom and understanding how to face the days ahead and what to say or not say. Guide my thoughts to focus and help me to bring peace to my family and strength. Help me to stand boldly and confidently when it is needed and to be meek and understanding when that is needed. My family faces hard decisions, and we turn to You for guidance and discernment. Help me to be the leader my grandchildren need to be and to demonstrate love, faith, and hope before them so they can grow and learn to trust in You.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
