Renewing my Mind So I focus On What is Important

Heavenly Father, I take command of this morning and dedicate it to You. I ask that You bind the anger, evil, hate, and pride from my classroom and loose peace, peace of mind, grace, and mercy. I pray that You will continue to work on the hearts of my students and lead them to salvation.

Holy Spirit let me listen to the words: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take Your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking around in life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, and develops well-formed maturity in you.” [Roman 12:1&2; the Message Version]

Holy Spirit help me to learn to focus on Your word, Your principles, Your desires for me. Let me fight off sinful thoughts wearing the armor Paul describes in Ephesians. Let me replace these thoughts with scripture, meditating on scriptures like Philippians 4:8&9: Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. Let me focus on what is true, what is just, and what is honorable and pure so that my thoughts can allow You to work in my life, thought life and keep me from temptation and sin.

Help me to instill deep within who I am Your will, Your wisdom, Your desires, and most of all Your forgiveness and Your love so that I can speak, leak and exude Your will, Your wisdom, Your desires, Your forgiveness, and most of all Your love. For I am a man who needs to be broken and made to love through You for I am not capable of doing this on my own.

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!
