Renew My Mind and Protect It

Heavenly Father, I praise You for giving me strength and helping me hold onto my faith. I praise You for being a compassionate God who not only knows but understands my thoughts, my heart, my desires, and my fears. Thank You for Your word and how I find strength and comfort from it when I am desperate. Help me today to stand with my spiritual armor on so I can fight the fear Satan attacks my thoughts with.

Holy Spirit, Your word says: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So you, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before me. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me. [2 Timothy 1:7; 2 Timothy 2:1; Isaiah 41:10; Isaiah 49:16; Psalms 50:15]

Your word clearly instructs me on fear and comfort in Your presence around me. I cry out to You because I still face, at times, the nightmares of my truck crash and finding my son dead in my study. I still fear for my other son for witnessing the death of his brother also. The devil attacks my control of thoughts and fights to destroy my peace and faith. I can not change what has happened, but neither do I need to continuously relive it. I press forward so that one day I can be in heaven, where ultimately I will find the peace I will never fully find here on the earth. The loss of a child never leaves You, and I understand that, but I also understand I must continue to live until called home. I must live to be the example for the salvation of Christ for which I was made and given salvation to live before all people. Protect my head with the helmet of salvation and renew my mind to keep it focused on You and why You made me.

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into

the love of God and into the patience of Christ. May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. Amen. [2 Thess. 3:3-5; 2 Thessalonians 3:16]
