Praying for the Sick and Hurting

Heavenly Father I praise You for allowing us to come to Your throne room daily and lay our petitions at the feet of Christ who is our advocate. I know that nothing is impossible for You, Jesus or the Holy Spirit and that we be honest before You in our requests. You inspired James the leader of the early church in Jerusalem, to write: Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. [James 5:13-16]

Holy Spirit I desire to not only know the will of God but act upon it. With Christ as my example and putting His words to the test of the promise He made when He said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” [John 14:12-14] Since, Christ healed many people while here on the earth I feel it my duty to pray for healing for others and let the Father decide who needs healing on this side of eternity. I bear the responsibility of daily petitioning for this healing for others. In this I come to You and ask that You heal Gwen who has stage 4 colorectal cancer and is fighting being Septic, she needs to heal from being septic so that they can deal with the cancer. She also had a bad allergic reaction to chemo, so they have to change her medications. Her husband Dave’s prostrate numbers are high. He is also getting tests and will likely be on treatments. So he has had to shut his business down for now. My Aunt Ruth has had to have gallbladder surgery and will need to heal. I pray for healing and wisdom for Mike who had some of his kidney removed and is now waiting for reports and trying to heal. Josh who has testicular, lymph node and lung cancer, Holy Spirit he is the only son and grandson of two women who need You to intervene in his life and give him a complete healing. Kayla has been battling POTS for many years now. She goes to Physical therapy twice a week in Grand Rapids, Michigan to help her with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and secondary help for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. She has seen some positive results from this but it still a long drive and has not helped her completely heal yet. They are trying to find the right medications for her which is a trial-and-error process. She is also suffering from what is believed to be Slipping rib syndrome, a surgeon, who has developed his own surgery to tie the ribs together to prevent the ribs from slipping out of place, is hoping to use this procedure to help her, this causes her a lot of discomfort. In October she will go back to The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Chicago for a repeat PET & CT scan, a MRI, Labs and appointments with her oncologist and other appointments. She is still praying that You will help the doctors and surgeons see the tumors that are plaguing her so they can remove them and end her treatments in this area which are biweekly and very hard on her with many side effects. Holy Spirit I pray that You would help those who are treating her have wisdom and I am praying for complete healing for her so that she can show the world nothing is impossible for You. Above all I, Kayla and her mother pray that Your will be done in this matter and that Kayla will have peace with whatever Your will is. I bring Annette who is diagnosed with breast cancer and is beginning treatments, Sheila who has stage 3-4 cancer, Hanah who has terminal brain cancer and is only 5 years old, Marie who has Leukemia, Hudson who is terminally ill and is only just one year old. Watch over Robby who has a rare skin cancer, Marvin who has lymphoma and a fifty percent survival rate, Craig who has an immune disorder, Bud who has a colon issue, Amy who has gastrointestinal stomach cancer, and Ellie a seven-year-old with acute lymphoma leukemia. I continue with Penne who has chronic lymphatic leukemia and her blood count is high, Ana with Breast Cancer, Kelly who has non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and Claire who also has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I also pray for Dwayne with stage 4 stomach cancer, Rick with Leukemia, and Nelson, Debbie, Kevin, Tim, Nicole who all have cancer. Angel who is fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer, Cindy who has liver cancer, Esther’s heart condition, Reverend Philip who has an open sore and is diabetic, Janet who is still fighting the pain from shingles, Neoma who continues to heal from a broken hip, my friend Dawn who deals with MS daily, my friend Louise who has defeated cancer and still is fighting to be fully healthy, my friend Jeff who is almost healed from hip surgery but will need surgery on his other hip and fights schizophrenia every day and Karen who is having heart troubles not long after having heart surgery where two splints were put in. Baby Noah who turns 2 months old, seems to have a rare digestive illness that might require chemotherapy, a bone morrow transplant, and up to a year in the hospital. April who lives in Tennessee and was in a car accident and fractured her spine at the L1 and is in the hospital I come knowing You can heal anyone; I also seek that Your will not mine be done today. I come as the woman Christ talked about that continued to seek the judge to hear and do something about her complaint. I will continue to bring these before You, seeking healing from You, because You said that I would do even more things and that all things come from seeking through prayer with humility and fervency.

I also bear the responsibility and love for family and friends to pray for the intercession of those who either do not know You, have turned from You, or blame You for their lot in life. I pray for their salvation and forgiveness for their pride, anger, bitterness, or sinful desires. I faithfully bring these before You: Jack, Luke, Amanda, Eva, Isabelle, Quinten, Trent, Asa, Wyatt, Joshua, Sophia, Aletha, Josh, Brenna, Caleb, Rueben, and Sam. I come before You and continue to ask for them be prodded, pushed, scared or whatever it takes to lead them to salvation. I pray that You will not turn them over to their own desires.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
