Heavenly Father I praise You today for allowing me to have the companionship of a wife. I praise You for all the years of our marriage and for slowly making us into a united front. I praise You for bringing her into my life to make me whole and to learn how You love the church. Your word says, “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” I am truly blessed because of the wife in my life.
Holy Spirit Your word says, “Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.” [Proverbs 5:15-19] I realize from this portion of Your word that my relationship with my wife should be private, protected, and focused. Help me to never publicly humiliate, put down, or despair my wife in public. Please help me always to protect her reputation and protect her from evil, harm, and others. Help me to always give my first focus, love, desire, and attention to my wife for she is all that I will ever be. Help me to cherish my wife, pray for my wife, and be honest to my wife. Let my love continue to grow for my wife and help me to always see her beauty from when I first saw her until now. Help me to see her and her ideas, opinions, and desires through Your eyes so that we become one in You.
Holy Spirit teach me to be more attentive to my wife as You are to me. Help me to always demonstrate respect for my wife as You do for me. Help me to value my wife as You value me. Teach me to not only hear but understand my wife when she speaks to me so that I can show her how important she is to me as You have done for me. Help me to protect my wife, pray for her, and demonstrate love for her by being a husband who helps at home. Help me to listen and not try to fix everything, giving her the respect to talk things out to make her own decisions. Help me to praise her and to always cherish her. Help me to always seek a relationship with her that is personal, private, and deep. Help me never give myself over to distractions, lust, or impure thoughts and to hold our love and our intimacy to the highest level while protecting her with privacy.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts me in all my troubles so that I can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort I have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into my life, so also through Christ my comfort overflows. If I am distressed, it is for the comfort and salvation of my wife; if I am comforted, it is for my wife’s comfort, which produces in her patient endurance of the same sufferings I suffer. Grace and peace to my wife from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for her sins to rescue her from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever.
