Heavenly Father, I praise You for allowing me to be a grandparent as well as a parent and husband. You have blessed me with a heritage and the ability to continue that legacy beyond who I am. I praise You for the power of prayer You have instilled within my faith and understanding. Guide me as I fulfill my grandfather’s responsibilities and cover my family with the umbrella of faith and salvation.
Holy Spirit, I come before the throne room through You this morning and petition the safety, the protection, and the ability to learn for my grandchildren as they start school. I pray that You will help them withstand bullies and those who do not have the best interests for them. Help their minds be receptive to learn, to think for themselves, and to truly listen and focus. Help them to hone their skills and abilities to grow in knowledge so that one day they can seek Your wisdom and learn of Your salvation and know it within their hearts. Help them to learn to apply their knowledge and to be honoring to You. Keep distractions, fantasies,
imaginations, and temptations at bay as they navigate each day at school. Help me to teach them of Your wisdom, Your salvation, and for others to breathe into their lives also. Help them learn responsibility and how to be good workers. I leave them in the palm of Your hands and under Your protection with the guardian angels You have assigned to them.
Let me continually offer the sacrifice of praise to You, oh God, that is, the fruit of my lips, giving thanks to Your name. Help me not to forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices You are well pleased. I will do my best to obey those who rule over me, and be submissive, for they watch out for my soul, and they will give account for how they lead. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for me. For I am confident that I have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. But I especially am urged to do this. Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me complete in every good
work to do His will, working in me what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13:14-21)
