Owning Christ as My Savior

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Holy Spirit, You inspired John to write, “In this way the love of God was revealed to [me] us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that [I] we might live through Him.” If I declare with my mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved. For it is with my heart that I believe and I am justified, and it is with my mouth that I profess my faith and I am saved. As scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew or Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is

heard through the word of Christ. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [1 John 4:9, MEV; Romans 10:9-13; Romans 10:17; John 14:12-14] Help me to abide in You, stake my faith and trust in You, believe fully in my heart on You and to go out and live Your will daily so that I can build Your kingdom by being the living temple I must be for Your Holy Spirit to use for Your glory.

Since I am receiving a kingdom that cannot be moved, let me be gracious, by which I may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For God, You are my consuming fire. I will continue to perpetuate brotherly love. I will not forget to entertain strangers, knowing that at times that has meant entertaining Angels unknowingly. I will remember those who have been imprisoned around the world for their faith and join with them in prayer and solidarity. I will stand with and remember those who have been abused, berated

or beaten because of being a child of God and will identify with them no matter the cost. I will honor my marriage and keep my bed undefiled. I will let God judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. I will use money, but never love it or desire it so that it never interferes with my devotion to God. I will learn to be content with what I have, for I know Your word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So that I can always boldly proclaim, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear, what can man do to me?” I will remember those who rule over me, who have proclaimed to me the word of God. I will follow their faith, considering the results it has produced in their lives. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In Jesus’ name, I anchor my salvation, amen. [Hebrews 13:28-8, MEV and my paraphrase]
