Making Your Misery Your Mission

Heavenly Father I praise You for the sermon I heard in 2012 that told me to take the very thing causing me misery and turn it into a mission to praise and serve You. I praise You for pastors who listen to Your Spirit and preach what You lead them to say. I praise You for pastors who have prayer partners and allow Your Spirit to lead them. I praise You for mentors in life who may not know much theology but they do know what You have done in their lives.

Holy Spirit lead me to be like King David when he said, “where does my help come from? It comes from the Lord!” Teach me to be like Daniel who was made a Eunuch and taken captive and served foreign leaders, yet he never stopped praying to You faithfully every day even when it was outlawed. Let my spirit become like Caleb’s and be considered different and stand with a faith that supersedes our own logic and fears. Help me to be so focused on You that like Peter, I get out of the boat and walk towards You. Let me be like Paul and Silas who even though being whipped and throne into prison and shackled to the walls sang and praised You.

Holy Spirit help me to continue what I started in 2012 to pray, lead in prayer, pray from Your word, and most of all grow my faith and others through prayer. James tell us in his letter, “Elijah was a man subject to natural passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought for its fruit.” I want to have that kind of faith when I pray. Let me pray with sincerity and without selfishness. Let me always to be motivated by Your Spirit and the needs You open my eyes to. Let me find scriptures to pray which fit the needs of who I am praying for but don’t ever let me misrepresent Your word. Help me to pray faithfully and as long or as consistent as I need to make the petition, moving enough for Your help.

Holy Spirit let my prayers change who I am so that I am a better servant and more Christ like. Let me pray, worship and sing until I can overcome any and all hard times in my life. Help me to always seek prayer first every other option second. Thank You for teaching me to have faith to pray over small things so that I can start to pray over larger issues. Help me to pray in a way that I help pastors to be successful in serving You and that their families are better protected from attacks from Satan. Help me to pray in a way that church teams feel Your presence and power so that they can serve with expectation of You doing something special in their midst. Help me to pray in a way that people can be healed and witness to Your glory. Most of all help me to pray so that I stay focused on You and walk closer each day with You.

But, beloved, remember the words that were previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last days there will be scoffers who will walk after their own ungodly desires.” These are the men who cause divisions, sensual, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God while you are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, which leads to eternal life. On some have compassion, using discernment. And others save with fear while pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with rejoicing, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. Jude 17-24 (MEV)
