Looking up to Christ

I turn my eyes to the mountains; from where will my help come? My help comes from Hashem, maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot give way; your guardian will not slumber…Hashem is your guardian, Hashem is your hand. By day the sun will not strike you, nor the moon by night.  Hashem will guard you from all harm; He will guard your life. Hashem will guard your going and coming now and forever. [Psalm 121:1-3,5-8; The Israel Bible]

Holy Spirit help me to learn that for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons [and daughters] of God.  For I did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but I received the Spirit of adoption by whom I cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God, and if a  child, then an heir—heir of God and joint heir with Christ, if indeed I suffer with Him, that we all who are saved may also be glorified together. [Romans 8:14-17] Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?  But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. [Romans 8:23&24]  Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.  For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. [Romans 8:26&27]  Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. [Romans 10:17]  Therefore, in view of God’s mercy, we need to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is our spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.  Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. [Romans 12:1&2]

Help me to continue to listen to You, the Holy Spirit, and allow Your presence within me daily so that I can continue to follow Your direction, learn wisdom, and to be the best representative of God’s kingdom I can be.  Help me to continue to look forward to the day when I will be at my home with Christ, but to live each day bringing the kingdom to earth so that others can become joint heirs.  Help me to keep looking up to You so that I breathe, drink and eat Your Spirit, living water, and bread of life to grow stronger in my faith and to trust You with all of my being.

Let my love be without hypocrisy. Teach me to abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.  Be kindly affectionate to others with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to others; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. [Romans 12:9-13] So that I honor You each day that I live here on the earth.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
