Living in a World that Revels in Sin

Heavenly Father I praise You for Your word for it often says what we know to be true in our own time. David wrote and it is fitting for this generation: “I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fall to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, Your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Continue Your love to those who know You, Your righteousness to the upright in heart. May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. [Psalm 36:1-11]

Holy Spirit cleanse me and make me whole. Help me to find and cherish righteousness and to serve You with my heart, mind, desires, and focus. Let me always a voice to testify of what You do, and of Your salvation. Help me to stand for justice not fairness. Help me to stand for the defenseless, not those who can improve my life with money or power. Help me to be honest with wisdom, integrity, humility, mercy and grace, yet not shy away from standing against blatant sin. I am not to judge, that I Your job, I am to love and to point the way to salvation. I am to be like the lighthouse and shine a light for all to see the safe pathway and help them to avoid stumbling. I am to be the city of refuge on a hill for them to come and learn of You.

I can offer no more than all of my life to You and to stand in the gap for my family, friends, neighbors, and community. Let me be fervent and faithful in prayer. Let me not put conditions on who I pray for. Teach me to forgive, for it is not an easy task for me. Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. Let me always be led by Your Spirit, In Jesus’ name, Amen. [Romans 5:1-5; Romans 8:1&2; Romans 8:14]
