Learning the Lord’s Prayer Part 2

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Amen) (Matthew 6:9-13)

Holy Spirit I am in awe of the thought of heaven. I know this is where many of my loved ones have already gone too. I long for the day when I will see my eternal home, and see You. Following the breakdown of the prayer, Jesus taught it is important to understand that You are Omnipotent, meaning You are everywhere at once. Angels can not claim this, all of creation can not claim this even Satan the fallen angel can not claim this. Only You.

Holy Spirit help me to understand that when Christ said, “Hallow be thy name” it means You are to be worshipped with awe and fear. We are to see You as not only our Creator but the Supreme above all Supremes. I owe you my allegiance, my life, my will, my abilities, and my attention. To the respect of You being God the Father, the first part of the trinity, I realize that without Your thought nothing we know would exist.

Holy Spirit, help me to learn as Job did when You said to him, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare if you have understanding. Who has determined the measurements, if you know? Or who has stretched the line upon it? To what are its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth and went out of the womb? When I made the cloud its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, and broke up for it My decreed place, and set bars and doors, and said. ‘this far you will come but no farther, and here your proud waves will be stopped?’ Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place, that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?” [Job 38:4-13] So that I understand that I am nothing without God. Help me to learn to command my mornings so that I can honor God and Hallow His name above all names. Continue to remind me that I am not in control, never have been in control and my Father in Heaven is the one in control. Only through salvation do I have any hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
