Just the Highlights

Heavenly Father, I praise You for a good night of sleep. I praise You for how far You have allowed medicine to advance and for the ability of man to learn, grow, and improve. I praise You for setting the schedule for my knee surgery so that I can move forward and make it to a wedding in May. Help me today to take command of my morning and shake the evil from it.

Holy Spirit, You inspired John to write: “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.” [John 21:25] This is so amazing a thought when I consider that I have a hard enough time consuming, learning, understanding, and then trying to emulate all that the four gospels do record about Jesus. Christ told us we would do even more than he did while He was here on the earth. I have walked this earth for almost 59 years. I have read or had the Bible read to me since the point I could start to remember. I accepted Christ into my life and the gift of

salvation when I was sixteen, so this walk has been for 43 years. As I look back, I am amazed how much has happened in life, and as I look forward, I am still curious as to what is next. To understand the depth of what John told us is, in one way, understandable, but in another, it stretches the imagination. I am glad I serve a God who used the Holy Spirit to inspire men to write what has become our Bible with the correct amount of instruction, testimonies, examples, and sermons to allow us to learn, consume, meditate, memorize, and feed off to live a life that glorifies Christ. I don’t know if I could handle more, since it is a daily challenge just to live the life I know I should live and that the Holy Spirit inspires me to try and live. I have always believed that God gives you what you need, sprinkled with a few blessings we don’t deserve, to live our life to the fullest while we are here and that we will live way beyond what we can conceive when we reach eternity.

But, beloved, remember the words that were previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last days, there will be scoffers who will

walk after their ungodly desires.” These are the men who cause divisions, sensual, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God while you are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, which leads to eternal life. On some have compassion, using discernment. And others save with fear while pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with rejoicing, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. Jude 17-24 (MEV)
