I Request Wisdom

Heavenly Father, I give You honor and glory forever. My lips will always give You praise even in the worst times of my life. I praise You for creation, for making me and knowing me before I was made. I praise You for wanting a relationship with me and giving me purpose to live life to the fullest potential I can. I praise You for changing seasons, differences in people and for different times in life. I thank You for my experiences as a child, a teen, an adolescent, when I was first married, being a father, and now as a grandfather and one who is nearing the next phase of life.

Holy Spirit help me to follow Solomon’s advice when he says, “if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry out aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.” James tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Holy Spirit, I seek wisdom, I seek to be just and a peacemaker when I can. I seek to understand and have knowledge of how God shows love so I can demonstrate love. I seek to have knowledge on how to live a life demonstrating being considerate, full of mercy and good fruit, submissive to God’s calling on my life, showing impartiality and always a sincere heart. Help me to learn to put others first and to be the kind of living sacrifice that will help me to be obedient and understand Your will in my life.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you, patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
