Heavenly Father, I praise You for the patience You have demonstrated with me as well as with us, mankind. I praise You for giving us free will, even if it means we foolishly squander this privilege by openly defying You when we try to change who we are and how You created us. Instead of looking for our purpose, we worry about how the world wants us to be. Please forgive the ignorance that is so prevalent in our world. Help me to take command of my day and shake the evil from it.
Your word says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” [Psalm 46:10] Help me to find and plan time to be still and know You. Help me to present my petitions, my anxieties, my desires, and my requests to You, but then let me be still, quiet, and allow You to speak to me. Help me to learn to listen and know Your voice. Let me take time as Christ did while here on the earth and just listen to and for You. If I am to grow in wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment, then I need to listen and learn, not just do and
read. Help me to get comfortable with silence and let Your Spirit embrace me, whisper to me, and guide me.
For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me, to Him be glory, Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!
