Finding Calm in the Storm

Heavenly Father, I give You praise, honor, and glory for Who You are and what You have done for mankind and for me. I am grateful for salvation, mercy, and grace, and for the Holy Spirit to guide me and dwell within my human temple as I live. I praise You for the life of Christ to be my standard and for me to draw wisdom from all that You had the disciples and apostles write of His sermons, miracles, ministry, and the theology of the church that would grow after His resurrection. Help me today to take command of my day and shake the evil and chaos from it.

Holy Spirit, You inspired Paul to write: For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. [1 Corinthians 2:16] I know from being a student of the Bible that God [the Trinity] is not a God of chaos or confusion. Today I have already faced stressful situations at work and lots of demands of my time and direction. Help me to take a moment and know Your mind on how I should speak, respond, act, and what I should or should not do going forward, so that I may have continued inner peace as I face my day. I know I am Yours, I know that I was created with a purpose and that I am diligently offering myself as a living sacrifice so I can know and do Your will. Let this translate into facing the storms I am in life and being solid in my faith, wisdom, understanding, and especially my discernment on how to handle all things that are under my control, and not let the things that are not under my control cause me undo anxiety. Help me to have enough faith and trust in You that You will one guide in how to think, respond, and speak, and two that You are in control, and I need to rest in the fact that You are bigger than anything I can face. I should be at the point in my life where I can stay calmer and stay in control, but I will always need Your Spirit to work with me and guide me.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
