Do We have Brotherly Love?

Heavenly Father I praise You today for Your mercy that You have for me. I praise You for allowing me to pray over pastors, churches and people from all over. I praise You that You allow someone who has messed up in life, continues to make messes and has to learn to love and not get angry. I praise You for using me and influencing me to continue to lead others in prayer. I praise You for teaching me how to work through my grief and despair.

Holy Spirit the writer of Hebrews sent us a letter that lays things out pretty clearly for us: “Let brotherly [and sisterly] love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unknowingly. Remember those who are in chains, as if imprisoned with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body. Marriage is to be honored among everyone, and the bed undefiled. But God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ Remember those who rule over you, who have proclaimed to you the word of God. Follow their faith, considering the results it has produced in their lives. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” [Hebrews 13:1-8]

Holy Spirit I pray that we will continue to teach all of this to our children and to the new believers in our churches. Help us who lead to demonstrate our faith and humility so that we are worthy of being leaders. Help me to love not only my neighbor, but all who are Christ followers no matter their doctrine as long as they follow and live Your principles shown in Your Scriptures. Help me to be always faithful and vigilant. Help me to honor my wife as Christ honors and loves His church. Most of all help to fear no more for what can man truly do to me?

Lord direct my heart into Your love and into the patience of Christ. Let the words that come out of my mouth be both pleasing and appropriate so that I honor You at all times. Let my life be lived in a way that all, family, friends, acquaintances, and others will know that I am Yours, I am not perfect just forgiven. Help me to live in a way that I bring peace in such a chaotic world. Help me to always guard my tongue and my emotions so that I allow You full control. In Jesus’ name, amen.
