Heavenly Father, I come before You and offer praise. I give You praise whether my heart is heavy or light. You alone are worthy of praise and gratitude. I can still hold on to that: You gave me salvation despite all I have done in life. You desire to have a relationship with me no matter how well I behave or not. You care about me even when I do not care about myself.
Christ taught, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men revile you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be very glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in this manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” [Matthew 5:3-12] Holy Spirit, I am broken, I am humbled, and I no longer know where to turn. I cry out to You and You alone for You know my heart, my pain, my loss of joy. Help me to just keep moving forward and see my way clear so that one day I can reap the benefit of seeing and enjoying heaven.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
