Be Ready

Heavenly Father keep me safe, for in You I take refuge. I say to You, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.” Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips. You alone are my portion and my cup; You make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.  I will Praise You, Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on You.  With You at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let Your faithful one  see decay. You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand. (Psa. 16)

Holy Spirit I come today to You and ask that You would bring comfort to Logan and Braydan who just lost their grandmother.  These young boys have now lost their father, grandfather, uncle and now grandmother in just a couple of years’ time.  Please give them peace and help them to look to You for their joy.  Teach them to continue to seek You so one day they can be reunited with their family in heaven.  Give them strength and courage to face this world with so much loss already in their young lives. Help their mother as she continues to raise them as she also is going through grief.

Holy Spirit help us to remember Christ’s words, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)  Help us to continue to pray fervently and uphold each other daily in prayer so that not only will our hearts, mind and spirit stay focused on Christ but we will help others with our faithfulness because of prayer.  Teach us to search Your word for the truth and promises You have made to us so that we can not only meditate on them but so we can pray them back to You and understand that You honor Your word and that Your word is true.

Holy Spirit renew my mind, body and spirit today and help me to be a temple worthy of Your presence and to be a living sacrifice for You so that I can not only know Your will but that others will see You inside of me.  Help me to live peaceably with others and demonstrate what life is like when I have the hope of Your salvation and resurrection inside of me.  Let me be faithful to praise, sing and pray with my lips daily in Your presence.  Let me live a life bearing the fruits of the spirit so that others may taste and see that You are good.  Lead me away from temptation and help me to keep my mind and eyes focused on what is pure, true and holy.

The end of all things is near.  Therefore, be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.  Amen. 1 Peter 4:7-11
