As a Person Thinks, So are They

Heavenly Father I praise You today for teaching me about my thoughts.  I praise You for good books to listen to, that teach wisdom.  I praise You for the scriptures that support truths in life.  I praise You for the people You inspired to write the letters that would become the books of the Bible that we read to learn more of You.  I praise You that the Bible hides nothing from us and gives us the insight of imperfect people who You used to build Your kingdom and who have been considered faithful.

Holy Spirit the book of wisdom (Proverbs) tells us as a person thinks in their heart, so are they. (Prov. 23:7) Paul tells us in his letter to the  Philippians 4:8&9—Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise worthy—meditate on these things. Do those things which you have both learned and received, and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.  Help me to not only meditate but apply these areas to my life and my thought process.

Holy Spirit help me to remember there is a spiritual war going on for control of my mind and [2 Corinthians 10:3-5] though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.  [Romans 12:1&2] In view of God’s mercy, we should offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is our spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Holy Spirit help me to daily renew my mind with Your word, with the prompting from Your Spirit, from the wisdom of others either through books, or testimonies.  Teach me to focus my thoughts on the areas of life that are important and put all my trust in You.  Help me not fear failure from trying but to fear failure for not trying to improve each day in life.  Help me to remember that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. [2Timothy 3:16&17]

Help me to put all thoughts under control by depending on Your wisdom, discernment and power of Your Holy Spirit who lives within me. Amen.
