Heavenly Father, I praise You for creating us with emotions, passions, intelligence, and a will. I praise You for creating us in Your image, and that we can trust that You, of all, can understand and relate to us. I praise You for the opportunity to pray, to commune with the Holy Spirit, and to have wisdom slowly given to me so that I can grow and make better choices. Help me today to take command of my day, shake the evil from it, and be the spiritual umbrella for my family.
Holy Spirit, You inspired Paul to tell us in his letter to the Romans [Romans 12:19, NIV] “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath.” I know that within who I am, I have experienced love, joy, patience, impatience, anger, frustration, peace, and hope. All are emotions I was given to handle, master, and be a part of who I am. Help me not to let anger ever get to hate towards another, or to the point of seeking revenge. Help me to hate sin, but not the sinner, to hate failure but to always push to succeed, to let You judge people for You know their heart and mind, I do not. When someone hurts or attacks me to allow forgiveness, but be wise in how I move forward so that I protect those you place under my guidance or love. Let me be bold, courageous, and stand when I need to, but not seek argument, or to seek trouble. Help me to live as peaceably as I can with all people. Help me to be spiritually judicious about whom and when I invest my time, and love on. Help me to be an encourager like Barnabas, a leader like Peter and Paul, a teacher of faith like Philip, a servant like Stephen, industrious like Lydia, and one who prays like Anna and Simeon. Let my faith be mighty like Elijah, Nehemiah, Daniel, Paul, and the disciples. But also help me to have faith and to constantly grow in Your Spirit, Your wisdom, and to be discerning enough to show discretion. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Oh Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer. Help me to live as Your moving temple for Your Spirit to reside in and speak through, so that Your kingdom may grow. Help me to learn what it means to be meek like Moses. Strong but humble like Jesus, and to be faithful to allow You to move and impress on people’s hearts like the people of the early church. In Jesus’ name, amen.
