A Hunger and Thirsting

Holy Spirit I praise You for this new day and I take command of my morning with the power You instill in me. I praise You for giving me a heart that forgives and reflects Your love. I praise You that I do not have to live by the old law but by the principles You set forth of Loving You with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my mind. Also You commanded that we love our neighbor and I attempt to do this every day. I also thank You for making me a discerning individual who can learn enough wisdom to stay away from those who will cause my family pain and bring me down to a place where I will become angry and hurtful when I need to be loving and forgiving.

Holy Spirit teach me how to hunger and thirst after Your kingdom and righteousness. Help me to learn to grow the fruits of the spirit into my life so that I can be a person who provides nourishment for others. Holy Spirit teach me wisdom, help me with my understanding and only increase my knowledge if it doesn’t produce pride in me. Help me to seek Your presence in my life from morning when I awake until night when I lay down to sleep. Help me to keep my mind on the things of God so that I am not tripped up by the things that would cause me to sin. Help me not to search for a list of things I need to do or things I should not do but search for Your promptings each day to know where I should go, what I should say, to truly listen to Your voice and follow Your way.

Holy Spirit help me to learn the wisdom that Paul preached and is recorded in Acts 17:26-28 God has made from one blood every nation of people to live on the entire face of the earth, having appointed fixed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek Him so perhaps they might reach for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being. As some of our own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.—1Corinthians 1:4-9
